About LocalConvert

LocalConvert is a free image converter that runs entirely in your browser. We built it because every other converter we tried required uploading your files to a server — which is slow, raises privacy concerns, and forces you to sign up or hit daily limits.

We took the opposite approach. Modern browsers have powerful built-in image processing capabilities through the Canvas API and WebAssembly. Using these, we can convert JFIF, JPEG, PNG, WebP, and HEIC files directly on your device — typically in under one second, without sending a single byte to any server.

This means three things for you:

• Privacy: Your files never leave your device. We genuinely cannot see them — not because we promise not to look, but because they never arrive.
• Speed: No upload wait. No server queue. Conversion happens at your device's speed.
• No limits: We have no server costs, so we have no reason to restrict how many files you convert or how large they are.
